the book, Watson describes what Biblical Counseling is and what it isnt. The second part of the book identifies the skills that Biblical counselors need, and in the third part
of the book, Watson discusses different models of Biblical Counseling for lay Christians, for congregational leaders, and for trained therapists. The author includes a Scripture index so the reader can
readily access text that references Scripture passages. Watson identifies three basic skills that Christian counselors need to help patients cultivate three basic skills. These are: how to tell their
stories; how to choose their goals wisely; and how to practice actual changes in their lives. Watson attempts to teach counselors (or any reader) how to achieve these goals by
demonstrating Christs interactions with others; through the commands contained in Scripture; and through the interactions and interactions of both the prophets and the Apostles. Believers tend to be
wary and even skeptical of counseling that refers to itself as Christian or Biblical. This is not without good reason. Many have seen the Word turned around to meet the
needs of the counselor or to support and affirm that counselors own personal beliefs. It is extremely difficult to practice Biblical counseling. In fact, one might ask exactly what
is it. Watson himself comment that it was with some trepidation that he used the term Biblical counseling. Watson says of the title "Biblical Counseling" that it is "a noble
