1. Introduction Boeing is a well known company with a checkered history. A company that has had a history of looses and waste that has been turned
around and continues to need attention in order to gain and maintain the dominant position it is strategically committed to gaining. Boeing is the market leader in the manufacture of
commercial jetliners, competing with Airbus in an oligopoly, and with the merger with McDonnell Douglas in 1997 there was the acquisition of the Douglas aircraft line. For the company to
assess its potential future and develop strategies there has to be an understanding of the current position and the competitive environment. This paper will look at the internal and the
external influences on Boeing. 2. Current Position 2.1 Stakeholders Boeing has a large number of stakeholders, many pf which are important for the companys continued success. The main
stakeholder of any business is deemed to the stockholder (Elliott and Elliott, 2005). It is this group of shareholders that the annual accounts are prepared for and are determined as
the principle stakeholder. The stockholders are the owners of the company and the main interest will be the desire to make a profit from their investment. This does not mean
there are no other concerns, but investments are made with the aim of creating a return on the investment, either with dividends or with capital growth. As a large blue
