Florida, shared his early interest in politics. Though George W. Bush would become the 43rd president of the United States, his political activities started decades earlier with his
educational focus and his interest in national and international political problems. Bushs education was extensive; he attended the famous Phillips Academy in Andover, MA, and then went on to
Yale University, where he received his undergraduate (BA) degree (Rozell, 2003). By 1975, George W. Bush had received an MBA degree from Harvard University (Rozell, 2003). Before
achieving his MBA at Harvard, though, George W. Bush did serve as a pilot in the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam War (Rozell, 2003). Though Bush never
saw action in the war, his service was noted during war time and has been a component of his campaigns, especially when working against the reputations of men like Bill
Clinton, who never served during the war. In 1977, just two years after his degree at Harvard, George W. Bush married Laura Welsh, a librarian (Rozell, 2003). Laura
would become instrumental in supporting George W. Bush in his career, including his difficult bid for the presidency against the popular ex-Vice President Al Gore.
After his service, Bush focused on a career in the oil and gas industry in Midland, Texas, but didnt truly enter the political realm until he began
