Essay / Research Paper Abstract
6 pages in length. Technological advancement has afforded mankind phenomenal - and heretofore unfathomable - opportunities as a species; indeed, the past several decades have proven instrumental in the growth of myriad industries. Space and military technology are two areas in particular whereby technology is responsible for changing the very fundamental approach to which these industries address their respective objectives. The extent to which pursuits of space and military have expanded exponentially is both grand and far-reaching; that bioethical concerns have landed front and center of these operations speaks to the growing moral significance that must be taken into consideration as mankind embarks upon widening his scope of these two entities. be taken into consideration as mankind embarks upon widening his scope of these two entities. At issue with human beings standing upon the threshold of space exploration is the notion
of domino consequences, examples of which have been provided time and time again throughout history. The car - while an absolutely essential commodity by todays standards - created a
tremendous offshoot of unanticipated problems for society as a whole, not the least of which has been pollution, natural resources depletion and urban sprawl (Lin, 2006). With the very
real potential for commercial space travel, people must first consider what has occurred here on earth before traipsing off into the universe in search of such possibilities as establishing communities
on other planets. Man has very nearly wrecked this planets entire ecosystem, waged ongoing global war and fails to feed and shelter its dying masses. Even after realizing
the mess made from human conspicuous consumption, there has been a lukewarm rally to take the necessary steps toward reversing the damage and preserving what is left. What is
to say this human legacy will not follow into space exploration to the point where outer space becomes yet another casualty of mankinds self-interest? One needs only to look back
in order to anticipate what will happen ahead if humanity does not take heed where space exploration is concerned. Colonization turned otherwise civilized groups of people into control savages
