she has been living in such an unacceptable condition. Once this possibility has been ruled out, the next observation is to see what food is in her cupboards and
refrigerator, their edible condition and any indication that she has eaten something that day. If the odor detected in the apartment originates from the kitchen and food is dried
on the plates, it is a likely deduction she has not had proper nourishment (Lukas, 1993). Upon further observation, the social worker may find bills or other correspondence that would
provide a better time frame as to when Mrs. Rs situation began to deteriorate. Looking through bedside tables and other appropriate locations may uncover the smallest bit of insight
to why she is living like this, information that she may not be mentally capable of conveying. As best as possibly able, the social worker would attempt to obtain information
from Mrs. R regarding her current situation, who has been to visit her, whether she has any family nearby, when she last bathed and had something to eat, when she
last stepped outside for some fresh air and if she had any physical ailments she could recognize. Based upon the information gathered from observation and that which was offered
by Mrs. R, it is likely there would be quite a few discrepancies that warrant removing her from the apartment for her own safety. The social worker will also
want to obtain information from the neighbor who called the Crisis Unit to gain any further insight to Mrs. Rs daily routine. The theoretical premises and skills used to help
