drinking appears to be increasing (British Medical Journal, 2001). An individuals propensity for binge drinking is believed to be directly related to their ethnicity and/or race.
As detailed in a study by the University of Michigan, binge drinking is defined as the consumption of four (for female students) to five
or more (for male students) drinks in a row during a two week period (Han, 2001). Such sporadic drinking of large amounts of alcohol can present serious problems.
Indeed, in Europe binge drinking accounts for the death of one men in four who range in age between fifteen and twenty-nine (British Medical Journal, 2001).
