target of a legal battle that hasnt yet been completely resolved. Microsoft so dominates the industry, that in the world of high technology, Gates is like an uncle or mentor,
to many programmers and systems analysts. Thus, when the book came out, there was a great deal of interest. There is another side. Despite Gates success,or perhaps because of it,
he has made a great many enemies. Some just hate him because he is the quintessential American success story. As engineers buy their Lotto tickets each week after a tough
day at IBM, Gates retires to his self designed mansion. There is a great deal of envy. Another reason people tend to dislike him is they truly do not believe
he deserves the acclaim. In other words, his products are not superior. Rather, his ability to sell his wares is what keeps him the dominant force in the computer industry.
Tee shirts were popular a couple of years ago that had the saying "Windows 95" on the front and "Mac 86" on the back. Many do believe that the system
he created is actually a rip off of other products. As people have been critical of the man, the book has also been criticized for elevating Microsoft products; some have
suggested that his book was one long commercial for the company. At the same time, computer professionals should give the book a lot of attention. Whether one likes Bill Gates,
or even agrees with him, the book presents an array of interesting and provocative topics. It looks at how the information age has evolved and where it might be in
