2000). Believed to have been composed more than 500 years before the birth of Jesus Christ, the Bhagavad Gita concerns a devastating Indian civil war, which bears more than
a passing resemblance to the American Civil War of 1861 to 1865. In India at this time, relatives were pitted against each other. At Kurukshetra, the Kauravas were
about to face off against the Pandava brothers, who were supposed to be led into combat by Arjuna, who was regarded as the greatest archer in the world at the
time (Painadath, 2002). The Supreme God Krishna was Arjunas charioteer for this occasion, and when it reached the center of the battlefield, Arjuna could see many of his kin
