Best Buy is known for its electronics and appliance product lines, and for offering good prices as a matter of course. It has joined all other major retailers in
offering online shopping options, at a site that is easy to use but not quite as complete as it could be. 1. What about the shopping experience at the virtual
retail is similar to the shopping experience at the physical retail store? Going into the virtual store is much the same as
entering the physical store. Entering the physical store, the shopper looks around in a broad sweep, visually locating the items of immediate interest, or at least visually locating the
general area in which they are located. S/he may pass a sign close to the entrance of the store announcing some special of the day.
Entering the virtual store bears similarities in that the shopper is greeted with the items that the retailer is promoting. The visual sweep of the physical
store is replaced in the virtual one by a glance to the left of the screen, where product classes are listed. At BestBuy.com, the product categories to the left
of the screen are separated, apparently according to what the retailer wants to promote. Both settings allow the shopper to look at and
assess one product at a time. Both settings allow the shopper to find and read information about the product, with the only difference being the location of the information.
