OF RELIGION Religion was a significant part of the life of Benjamin Franklin. There is no question that both he and the people of that time took great stock
in the benefit of religion as representing all that is sacred and worthwhile. Franklin was such a believer of faith that it actually served to help guide him through
his leaner years. Indeed, religion carried with it a great deal of salvation for those who believed in its clemency. So important were religious beliefs that great sums
of money were contributed to the building of houses of worship where citizens such as Franklin could assemble and pledge their faith to God and each other, while in the
company of those who believed the same way as they did. There was a strong sense of togetherness that bonded all who proclaimed their love for the higher entity
(Franklin PG). Franklin rejoiced in his ability to praise the Lord with the freedom that was not readily granted in many other societies.
He so appreciated having the strength of faith present in his life that, like most others, Franklin freely expressed his gratitude even outside the many houses of worship.
