poor funding for educational programs, the option of home schooling has become widely more attractive. Approximately two million children are currently being home schooled and that number is continually growing
(Shaw). The projected growth rate for the next few years stands at seven to fifteen percent per year (Shaw). It has been proven that home schooled children do well
on the standardized tests, are welcomed into colleges and universities. Adults who have been home schooled enjoy a reputation of being reliable employees and for being self-directed learners. ARGUMENT FOR
HOMESCHOOLING Parents who chose to school their children at home do so for a variety of reasons. Often there is an even or a series of events or incidents
at school that instigate the parent to remove their child from the public school system (Ramirez). Perhaps the child has failed to learn in the public school education system and
may have even been labeled as "slow". Sometimes a child that has been labeled will live only up to those expectations and will soon begin to fall behind in
public school. However, in a home environment, this same child may not only thrive, but may excel. Some children become bored with school because they are not sufficiently challenged.
The normal curriculum does not provide them with the needed stimulation to continue actively learning. Other children are small for their age or are not socially equivalent to
their classmate peers. Home schooling may not be an option for everyone, but for the majority of children it can provide an excellent education that well prepares them for life.
