children who are physically active show improvement in blood pressure, heart strength, and cholesterol levels. Exercise, and thus fitness, proves beneficial to people who find themselves with trouble sleeping, and
being fit also helps with conditions like depression and low self esteem. Being fit affects a persons entire being, improving all aspects of a persons life. Introduction Everyone
knows that there are clear benefits to exercise or keeping oneself fit. Of course, any amount of physical activity could be overdone and ultimately cause one kind of physical damage
or another. But, for the most part keeping oneself fit, getting regular exercise, has numerous benefits, often more benefits than most people realize. The following paper examines the various benefits
of being fit, of getting proper amounts of exercise. Benefits of Fitness The first aspect of fitness to be examined involves the mental benefits of exercise. According to
one journal article it appears as though aerobic exercise may actually improve the conditions experienced by people who suffer from Alzheimers Disease. The authors note that, "The analysis of the
relationship of cognition and function shows that interventions targeting specific cognitive domains such as executive functioning could delay functional decline in people with AD" (Yu et al., 2006; 358). One
of the interventions was aerobic exercise. When discussing aerobic exercise, in terms of how it is achieved for fitness levels, the requirement is to utilize large muscles through rhythmic and
continuous movement for at least 15 minutes, and to do this 3 to 4 times each week (Yu et al., 2006; 358). This essentially increases the heart rate by 60%
