2010). The national Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) conventions is a good example. The Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies Organizations mission is to promote and support
a scientific approach to understanding human problems and to develop approaches to help eliminate those problems (ABCT, 2011a). The ABCT organization disseminates information on cognitive-behavioral therapies and provides a great
deal of support (ABCT, 2011b). Last years convention was held November 18-21, 2010 in San Francisco. The invited speakers were: Albert Bandura, Frank Andrasik, Edna B. Foa, Helen S. Mayberg,
and James O. Prochaska (ABCT, 2011c). Where else but at a convention can a person listen to, meet, have a conversation with these experts all in one place. Besides there
major speakers, dozens of presentations were made on behavioral medicine and health psychology, severe mental illness, and using CBT with numerous conditions and illnesses (ABCT, 2011c). One of the many
things noticed was that there were both research papers presented and experiential papers. In other words, there was a connection between the academic and the experiential. There was also a
series of master clinician seminars and several institutes. Both the seminars and the institutes required tickets. The many different panel discussions were exciting in that several clinicians and scholars discussed
their opinions on a variety of topics, such as training in evidence=based practice and a discussion of unifying research and practice. Depression is a conditions all therapists treat. There were
