Various companies act in different ways as corporate entities and just as individuals affect the world as human beings, so do corporations as corporate entities. Some corporations like Enron for example have changed the corporate culture of many other organizations, as individuals look at Enron as a fiasco. Companies realize that they cannot act irresponsibly and still gain public support. Similarly, some people look at specific organizations and see them as exemplary and claim that what they do is how all corporations should behave. The companies that are considered "do gooders" are the ones that flourish in terms of good public relations. It should also be noted that when studying microeconomics, individual choice is a significant factor (Hall and Lieberman 2). In the United States of America, there are a handful of exemplary organizations, one of which is Ben & Jerrys. When examining Ben & Jerrys web site for example, and clicking on the "jobs" area of this user friendly site, the description includes a list of benefits such as " paid family leave, health club memberships and three free pints of Vermonts Finest super premium ice cream, frozen yogurt and sorbets every day!" ("Ben & Jerrys"). It also is a good corporate citizen: "Long considered one of the countrys most socially conscious companies, the ice cream maker has taken its Pint-For-Pint program nationwide, offering blood donors a free pint of ice cream in exchange for their donation" (Cook 26).
