commitment are all values that one could see as being part of being a good father. The following paper examines the characteristics of a good father. Being a
Good Father In our present day society being a good father can be shown in many ways. In an examination of such a reality one author asks "Is a career
focused man, one who works hard, who by default therefore works long hours, perhaps travels, is he a good father?" (So Close, 2006). Or is he a bad father because
he is rarely there for his children? (So Close, 2006). As can be seen, working hard for a family and being committed is a good trait, but perhaps working too
hard is not a good trait? Clearly it likely depends on other qualities possessed by this father. Another author indicates that fathers,
or dads, are safe and "they do not violate their childrens trust" (Rosen-Grandon, 2006). A father is someone who is reliable and always there somehow for the child. A father
is someone who will not harm them or violate them (Rosen-Grandon, 2006). They are individuals who show they are approachable when there are problems, although they are perhaps "often stern
and definite about their views" (Rosen-Grandon, 2006). This author notes that the most important qualities that a good father, or dad, can possess are unconditional love and loyalty (Rosen-Grandon, 2006).
