States to a large degree. This is the coast that New York City loves and the same coastline goes all the way down, through Maryland and South Carolina and Georgia,
to the state of Florida. Each of the coastline states do have their share of problems. Some argue that erosion is natural, but clearly it is a problem for the
people who build their homes on sticks and are sometimes wiped out during hurricanes that are known to happen every season. Though a natural occurrence, and something that just seems
inevitable, many try to stop it by sandbagging and building walls. They believe they can keep mother nature out, but new research has shown that in fact, these measures may
be harmful. While more research on the subject needs to be done, there is a lot that is known about this phenomenon. When looking down at this coastline from an
airplane for example, one sees a rugged coast with many different levels and an odd shape. There is nothing regular about the coastline and when looking at maps from
year to year, they change. This is particularly noticeable when examining maps from long ago and comparing it to the present reality. In fact, some project the future as being
very different from the beaches that are present today. There is a fear that the beaches may fade into oblivion or at least dissipate somewhat. In New Jersey, for
example, a place called Seabright has a water wall and endures a great deal of beach erosion. Today, it is such a small strip of land, the beautiful homes in
