Pigs, 2008). It was an event that took place due to increasing friction between Castros then leftist regime and President Eisenhower, although it was not Eisenhower who led the invasion.
The following paper offers an overview of the Bay of Pigs through discussing the background of the invasion, the invasion itself and the aftermath of the invasion. Background
of the Invasion As mentioned, it was not Eisenhower who ultimately led this particular invasion for he was no longer President. However, in
the few months between John F. Kennedys election and his inauguration he was briefed on the CIAs plan that had been created during the time when Eisenhower was in office
(John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum, 2008). The Eisenhower Administration had developed a plan with the CIA that would take Cuban exiles and train them so that they could
invade Cuba (John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum, 2008). "The United States was distrustful of Fidel Castro, the leader of Cuba, and wary of his relationship with Nikita
Khrushchev, the Soviet premier. The plan anticipated that support from the Cuban people and perhaps even from elements of the Cuban military would lead to the overthrow of Castro and
the establishment of a non-communist government friendly to the United States" (John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum, 2008). The preparations had
