of more than one individual combine to work towards a common goal in order to complete and idea and/or project to efficiency. The form that a team takes is
dependent on the reasons and accomplishments that are set by made in the final outcome. There are work, task, and management teams. Work teams tackle day-to-day activities, task
teams address a specific problem and management teams are created for operational and organizational units (Aranda, Aranda and Conlon, 1998). Norms are the
working rules that teams devise for themselves; cohesiveness is the degree to which team members work together and truly collaborate. Conformity can be positive or negative, in that it
governs the degree to which individual team members may fall into "group think." In addition to the types of teams that can be
defined by what they do, teams also can be defined by the method by which they are formed and whether their members also belong to different departments within the organization.
Teams can be formed through either formal or informal processes, depending on the needs of the organization and the nature of the task, problem or managerial issue at hand.
