following a fall which resulted in a broken hip. James was also suffering from depression which hindered his recover due to the difficulty he had in coping with the pain when he started to use his new hip. This was also complicated with the onset of an infection in the wound, which although painful was not MRSA. James also suffers from Asthma, which has become worse since he stay in hospital. Since this date there have been several short stays in hospital as a result of severe asthma attacks. James was not discharged for two moths and eventually returned home in May. His home had been looked after by the family, but following the long hospitalisation and the ongoing depression as well as some mobility problems with the use of the new hip James requires more care, dealing with the physical care issues as well as help with coping around the house and with depression. He is unwilling to burden his children by allowing then to know of the depression. James is a proud man and is of above average intelligence and is aware of the implications of this decision. James situation is further exacerbated by the fact he lives in a Scottish farmhouse that is more than 10 miles from the nearest village and more than 50 miles from the nearest hospital. James no longer drives making access to healthcare a major issue, and with the changes in GP contracts meaning there is no longer the need to provide out of hours emergency services, problem that was already in existence; getting medical care of any form out to James, has now been made worse.
