people are interconnected in ways they could not imagine. It is a story about how everyones actions ultimately connect to one another in many ways. In truth there is no
real answer to any serious question in the film, no real conclusion that is solid and satisfactory, and it is a film that leaves the viewer to wonder what happens
next while recognizing there is never any real ending to the lives of people, even after death, as the interconnected nature of humanity continues. The following paper examines the film
as it addresses the relationship between the character of Chieko, as well as her father, and the Tokyo police. The paper illustrates how Chieko is a young woman who is
depressed, confused, and simply lonely and seeks some attention in the form of one police officer in particular. Babel One of the first times the viewer sees Chieko
comes when her father has picked her up. She is bitter and acts rebelliously, illustrating to her father how he never pays attention to her and how her mother did
use to pay attention to her. There are many scenes wherein she demonstrates this longing for some sort of attention, real attention, from anyone. For example, while she and
her friends are at a diner of sorts, prior to the scene with her father, where all the kids hang out, she is laughed at by some young men because
she and her friends are deaf. She goes to the bathroom and takes off her underwear and when she returns she sits down and aims her crotch at the young
