it comes to software development, the general view is that a quality process will result in a quality product (Khalifa and Verner, 2000). This is all well and good -
however, if the drivers behind a software development process arent solid, or dont call for any kind of development, it doesnt matter how high-quality the process or results; the results
wont stack up to expectations. Major business drivers, or motivators, that lead to a software projects creation and sustainment can vary, depending on
leadership and organizational culture. In most cases, if the reasons are carefully thought through, the drivers behind software development can include anticipation of improved efficiency and international communications, improvement of
collaboration and improvement of information and knowledge flow (Aranda-Mena et al, 2009). Then there are those organizations that have only a single
driver when it comes to software development - namely that everyone else is doing it, and if this organization doesnt imitate the rest of the industry, it will be hopelessly
left behind. Another driver is when some software vendor drops by to talk to the executive staff, and manages to convince the staff that it definitely needs the particular software
