together a book report, with the book in question entitled Communicating Effectively With the Chinese by Ge Gao and Stella Ting-Toomey. Generally,
the first rule of a book report is to provide an overview of context in which the book was written. In this case, the "reason" for the book is pretty
straightforward and consists of two points. First, globalization means that borders are dissolving when it comes to doing business and interacting with other nations and cultures. But there is more
to doing business with another country than simply crossing a border. The spoken and written language, for one thing, can be difficult enough to master. But then there are the
"hidden" communications; the cultural mores that can cause real problems for a business that simply isnt prepared. The second point for this
report is that China is beginning to open up as a large power as far as economics is concerned. As the Chinese government continues relaxes restrictions on imports, exports and
marketing, China will likely grow into even more of a juggernaut that it currently is. Finally, the authors point out that
