their bodies, through use of body language. In this paper, well examine some ways in which "body talk" is used to communicate a message, even if the message is different
from what a person might be saying. Take, for example, eye contact. This is a funny one as people, for the most part,
have some difficulty maintaining eye contact. But people have even more problems with eye contact when theyre feeling uncomfortable about something. For example, if one were to examine a couple
on a date that isnt going well, the eye contact would be the first to be noticed. The man and the woman, very simply, would not be looking at each
other. They would, in fact, be looking almost anywhere else, and if their eyes were to meet, theyd look away quickly, embarrassed. And, at the end of the date, when
they would assure each other of the nice time they would be having, their eyes would show an opposite message. One way to
truly let a person know youre interested in what he or she is saying is to keep direct eye contact with that person. Not necessarily stare him/her in the eye
the whole time, but to be careful not to let your eyes wander. Theres nothing more offensive to the person to whom youre talking than to let your eyes wander.
Even if youre paying attention to that persons words, wandering eyes show a different story; they show a disinterest. Another sign of disinterest,
