The company says they "were looking for speed, flexibility, and transparency" (GEAC, 2007) in production operations reporting systems. It chose Extensity Decision as its Business Intelligence solution (GEAC, 2007). Having the type of information this system provides allows the company to establish aggressive yearly productivity targets (GEAC, 2007) and provides them data on a monthly basis to be sure they are on target (GEAC, 2007). This is just one of the systems the company uses to increase production and reduce any errors (GEAC, 2007). It also provides the same information to the heads of the many departments involved in building the product (GEAC, 2007). Adopting this information system saves time, making the company more efficient. Another innovation the company adopted was to use methane gas to reduce its own energy costs (Noria Corporation, 2007). In fact, they generate more than 60 percent of their energy needs by piping in methane gas from nearby landfills (Noria Corporation, 2007). They can use the methane to fuel things like turbines that, in turn, produce electricity for the company (Noria Corporation, 2007). While there was an initial cost to adopt this innovation, it now saves the company about a million dollars a year in energy costs (Noria Corporation, 2007).
