through organizations such as the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The American Cancer Society has also made public the importance of breast cancer prevention - and has launched an educational awareness
campaign. Also debated has been the causes of breast cancer - and among those potential causes are oral contraceptive pills (OCPs) also
know as birth control pills. Studies on this topic have been controversial, to say the least, which is why our particular research will involve a link between OCPs and breast
cancer. In one study, investigators surveyed 4,575 women with breast cancer, comparing the usage of these women (who used OCPs) with that
of 4,682 control subjects (Zepf, 2002). In this study, there was no significant difference in the risk of breast cancer between the women who had used OCPs and those who
had not (Zepf, 2002). Yet this study, which was published in the New England Journal of Medicine, has had its detractors (U.S.
Newswire, 2002). American Life League, for example, wondered why none of the media questioned the researchers on the "questionable aspects" of the study, namely that 10 percent of the cases
recorded dropped out of the study because of illness or death (U.S. Newswire, 2002). In addition, none of the media stories mentioned any comments from researchers who disagreed with the
study (U.S. Newswire, 2002). But criticisms of such studies have gone back even further - it seems as though a study that cant find the link between breast cancer and
