too long overlooked the fact that textbooks and curriculum have been designed with only a small number of the majority in mind, and all of them white males. This study
would propose to expose those areas in education which exhibit gender bias and would encompass all the areas from teacher presentation to selection of curriculum. This study would initially begin
on the high school and college levels so as to narrow the focus groups. However, it is to be thought that the same sort of prejudices that these groups will
report will also be highly prevalent in the younger grades. This survey would need to be done in a way which posed no threat to the women who responded. As
such, then, a mailed survey can be great. This allows one to reach a broad spectrum or if one needs information from a large base of people. Additionally, questionnaires
can be utilized in classrooms then turned in anonymously. Questionnaires are very consistent, easily coded for input into computers and because of ease of use, a questionnaire would be the
method of choice when data is required from large numbers of people. In other words, quantitative data. These mailed surveys and questionnaires would be the first phase of the
study. The second phase, the student could add, would be a more face to face approach, where the researcher actually interviews a random sampling of women and girls. This allows
for a clearer picture to emerge when combined with the survey and questionnaire results. In an interview process the person has a chance to explain their answers as opposed to
the way the surveys are worded. Insight may be gained from a frank discussion more so than would be gained from a simple answer to a questionnaire. If open-ended questions
