inevitable, as it was an outgrowth of internal turmoil created by ancient policies, as well as impacted by volatile events occurring throughout the world. Its also safe to say that
the February Revolution was simply a continuation of Russias 1905 revolution, and that the later October Revolution (also in 1917) - the one that swept the Bolsheviks into power and
created the Soviet Union - was an outgrowth and result of the February Revolution. On the surface, the February Revolution seemed to
be little more than a battle about class warfare - the basic struggle between the bourgeoisie and Russias nobility who had much of that countrys wealth and the peasants and
laborers, who suffered under the Imperialistic regime. The flame of the February Revolution of 1917 was fanned for a basic reason - workers wanted higher food rations ("Russian Revolution"). Unlike
the previous revolution of 1905, which also involved striking workers, this one was successful in its attempt. Czar Nicholas II tried to put down the workers by force, but the
striking workers and peasants, along with the socialist intelligensia that drove them, eventually took over the capital. The result of the February Revolution was the end of Imperialism and the
eventual rise of communism and socialism, a philosophy that demanded that all share equally in wealth, no matter who was earning it, and that ones upbringing should have no influence
