Its not uncommon for big business to support campaigns, and even to do a little political wheedling when it comes to trying to
influence peddle to make decisions go in the right way. In fact, analysts have pointed out that in many cases, governments are ruled more by big business than by elected
officials, which is true, to an extent. But Chiquita, and its rivals, Dole and Del Monte, have had good luck in helping the
government to see things its way; in other words, it has been able to manipulate the government into doing everything from sending troops to a Latin American nation to effect
an overthrow, all the way to putting enough money in a particular presidential candidates campaign to help an election. In this paper, well
attempt to make a tie-in between bananas and politics. While there has been some good literature written about Chiquita and its influence in the political realm, there isnt quite so
much on Del Monte or Dole. Still, where we can find it in the literature, well mention it in this paper. How Chiquita Built an Industry
