perform a systems development lifecycle, also known as SDLC (Selecting a Development Approach, 2008; see also Haag, 2008). The steps in the lifecycle are planning, analysis, design, development, testing, implementation
and maintenance (Selecting a Development Approach, 2008). But rather than being a one-shot situation, the SDLC is an ongoing process, with the planning to maintenance process ever-changing.
In the case of the Baderman Island plan, the first step is the planning, which involves finding out the needs of the island (which
is to find a way to increase tourism and to make the process more interactive). The second step would be analysis. In this section, the analysis would involve taking all
the information about the island and deciding what type of enterprise system would be the best for showcasing it. One example is the idea of interactive RSVP sites for making
reservations at the restaurants. Another would cover the idea of self-planning a tour through the website. All of this would require the necessary hardware and software. Would there be computers
in each room? Would the reservations be accessible through the hotels television sets? How would the remote systems work? This would all be in the analysis phase. The best way
to determine an analysis along these lines is to have a central system, then perhaps roll out the process to other areas of the island (and onto the remote network).
