Essay / Research Paper Abstract
This 5 page report discusses how B.F. Skinner
brought into question the motivations that lead people to modify
their actions, as well as the ways in which “determinism” is
responsible for human thought and action. In comparison, the
lesser-known George Edward Moore directed his area of research
toward the free will of human beings and the idea that
individuals have free will “only if we sometimes could have done
what we did not do, and if everything is caused, then we never
could have done what we did not do.” Numerous critics have
claimed that the two are essentially saying the same thing. The
author of this report argues otherwise. Bibliography lists 2
sources.
