feel the numbers of children with autism is increasing, and many fear problems associated with the condition. There are those who argue that some environmental and medical elements are leading
to an increase, such as vaccinations. In short, it is becoming a very worrisome condition and as such warrants some examination. The following paper examines autism, providing a general overview
of the condition. What is Autism Autism is something that is also often referred to as Autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) or
Pervasive developmental disorder (PDD) (National Institute of Health, 2007). There is also another condition, a less obvious condition, referred to as Asperger syndrome (National Institute of Health, 2007). "Autism is
a disorder that is usually first diagnosed in early childhood. The main signs and symptoms of autism involve communication, social interactions and repetitive behaviors" (National Institute of Health, 2007).
It is considered to be a developmental disorder and as such is a neurological disorder. It is the most common developmental disorder in
the nation and it is complex disorder that has many varying levels (National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, 2007). For the most part there are generally three areas wherein
autism will be noticed. The autistic child has a hard time socially interacting with other people, they have problems with communicating and they often engage in very repetitive behavior, often
obsessive (National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, 2007). "The hallmark feature of autism is impaired social interaction. Parents are usually the first to notice symptoms of autism
