that attitudes towards women in each of these three religions have changed over time. The Holy Books for Islam and Christianity were and are contradictory about what they say about
women. The Islamic Educational?, ?Scientific and Cultural Organization (2009) reported that the Holy Quran promotes the human nature of women. It goes further, it actually promotes equality between men and
women, at least when it comes to the responsibilities of each gender. The Quran blames both Adam and Eve equally for eating from the forbidden tree (Islamic Educational?, ?Scientific and
Cultural Organization, 2009). And, the Quran suggests that women are not dependent upon men, they are independent. The Dharma Universe (2010) begins by stating that women hold an exalted
position in Hinduism and admits that women have been treated very badly through the years and it goes on to say that women are inferior. Hinduism believes that Adam and
Eve were created at the same time which suggests they are equal (Dharma Universe, 2010). Girls and boys are supposed to receive the same education, including the study of the
Vedas but a sacred law book called the Manusamhita says women do not have the "right to learn the holy language" (Dharma Universe, 2010). Therefore, she is not allowed to
study the Vedas. This particular Hindu book says that women "are entirely worthless creatures" (Dharma Universe, 2010). Even so, girls and women from higher class/wealthier families continued to receive
an education so it was caste controlled. Kohara (n.d.) reminds the reader that there are many different religions in Christianity and each has its own beliefs and doctrines. They
may even interpret the Holy Bible differently. The attitudes towards women in the early years of the Church followed those set by society. In that time, women were viewed as
