The patient is a 42 year old male with enduring schizophrenia. Despite medication1 the patient, who we will refer to as David, suffers significant residual symptoms which interferers with
normal everyday life for himself and his carers. David is unable to go out alone, relying on his mother or other family members to accompany him if he wishes to
leave the house. David also finds communication difficult, making it very difficult to communicate with any individual outside of the family. This increases the pressure on both David, with frustration
when trying to communicate and the family. Feelings of anxiety occur intermittently and frustration manifests in difficult behaviour, including slamming of doors and when unwell auditory hallucinations create concerns
in David for his own safety and result in compulsive behaviour constantly checking internal and external door locks. The stress levels in the family are high, exacerbated by the death
