Essay / Research Paper Abstract
This is a 4 page paper assessing the Northern Ireland conflict since the implementation of the Good Friday Agreement. Since the Good Friday Agreement was implemented in Northern Ireland in 1998, the British and Irish Governments have been assessing the events and improvements which have occurred since that time. In addition to constitutional and government issues addressed in the Agreement, the implementation of the Agreement also led to equal rights and opportunities regardless of religious affiliation in the areas of employment, services, and education which increased community awareness and cooperation. The fact the Agreement also contained aspects of diminishing the British police presence in Northern Ireland and the release of political prisoners was also exceedingly well received. Within the last year however, certain components in regards to the implementation of the Agreement have stalled, such as the full development of a new police force and board, and people have been split along pro-Agreement and anti-Agreement lines.
