Institute, 2005). In conjunction, this assessment is also created to determine if relationship issues exist for children between the ages of 9-19 (Brooke, 1999). How the
Test is Used The test is administered to children between the ages of 9-19 to identify potential relationship problems with individuals of primary importance. Specifically, standardized scores are produced
to determine the quality of relationships with mother, father, male peers, female peers and educators (Brooke, 1999). Bracken (1993) created this assessment based on the belief that children develop
formative relationships that can have an impact on their sense of self. "Interpersonal relations might well be the single most important predictor of overall social-emotional adjustment in children, adolescents
and adults" (Bracken, 1993, p. 2). The test, then, is utilized to determine the quality of these relationships and determine whether potential problems exist that can impact psychosocial development.
Bracken (1993) recommends that the assessment be used in conjunction with the Multidimensional Self Concept Scale or with other assessments to give a more complete picture of social, academic
and physical functioning (See Brooke, 1999). As a result, Bracken outlines 60 psychoeducational assessments that can be used effectively in conjunction with AIR (Brooke, 1999). This took can
be used with educational assessments and with psychological assessments in order to determine the potential or underlying causes of individual problems relative to self-identification and social functioning (Brooke, 1999).
Administration Bracken (1993) describes the administration of the assessment as one that should be done by professionals who have previous training in individual or group test administration.
