With a growing community and new people moving into the area the demand is likely to carry on increasing in the short term, in the longer term as the
population age and children are born this demand is likely to be sustained if not increase further. The placement of an existing orthopaedic practice in the community is ideal to
tap into this demand; it will benefit the community and increase revenues for the practice. The practice already has many of the requirements for an undertaking such as this, the
professional contacts and overheads such as insurance and a building to house the machine. Many of the costs incurred can be seen as the investment and then mostly marginal costs
only. It may also be argued that as a portable machine the commitment to space and opportunity cost of providing such as service is limited making this a potentially lucrative
investment. Moast overheads will cover the investment; there is only the need for additional office space. In addition to the MRI services
this may also act as a service that will attract patients for other procedures which will also increase the practices workload, rather than having opportunity costs this may be an
opportunity provider and as a complimentary service to other core services that are offered. The ability to undertake project such as this would benefit greatly from the way the
practice administrator perceived the potential. Where this is seen as a positive opportunity they can act as a advocate to get the investment operational and undertake the time needed to
