scenario is associated with greater hostility and less nurturing. The consequences of economic hardship were expected to extend beyond simply the timing of parenthood to affect the quality of
parenting and child adjustment in the next generation of children. That is, experiencing socioeconomic disadvantage during adolescence may set into motion a sequence of events that place the next
generation at increased risk for developing behavior problems (Scaramella et al, 2008, p. 731). Elemental to this study is how the child
is who suffers most significantly where teen pregnancy is concerned, a wholly vulnerable individual being born to and raised by a mother who is more often than not incapable of
the emotional, financial and social requirements inherent to parenting. As a direct result, these children frequently go without the fundamental basics of health care, education, clothing, food and shelter,
being thrust into the cyclical existence of poverty their parents have yet been able to escape themselves. The cyclical nature of this progression, the authors point out, is indicative
of how society is fundamentally based upon performance and profit that reflects incredible amounts of poverty, disease and homelessness in spite of the resources fully available for feeding, clothing, housing,
