appears to be the best. Koro-Ljungberg, et al(2008) conducted a qualitative study that investigated how African American adolescents described their experience with ADHD. Using a qualitative experience sampling method,
the narratives of four African American teens with ADHD were selected for analysis. The study results revealed that very few of the teenagers narratives described interventions for ADHD symptoms and
the participants did not refer to receiving formal treatment or having contact with healthcare providers at all, despite the fact that two of the adolescents had been treated in the
past and one was continuing to receive services related to ADHD. The teens did not seem to realize that their behavior, such as impulsivity and emotional outbursts, could be related
to ADHD. This study offers insight to service providers that can aid them in improving communication with African Americans clients concerning ADHD, as it suggests that there are cultural interpretations
of the condition that are relevant to the way that ADHD is understood by both children and parents. The quantitative study conducted by Sciutto, Terjesen and Frank (2000) utilized
a sample of 149 elementary school teachers in order to investigate the extent of the participants knowledge relate to symptoms and diagnosis, treatment and general knowledge of ADHD. The instrument
used to assess this knowledge was the Knowledge of Attention Deficit Disorders Scale (KADDS). Results showed that the teachers knew considerably more about symptoms and diagnosis than they did about
treatment or general information (Sciutto, Terjesen and Frank, 2000). The mixed methods study conducted by Wheeler, Pumfrey and Wakefield (2009) utilized both qualitative and quantitative methodology in order to
