the functions are relevant. The functions are reviewed and examples are provided. For instance, libraries keep information but universities transform people. In thinking about this subject one can likely come
up with a myriad of examples in respect to the topic. Organizations find people and products; they also distribute products and information and transform people or objects. Those are just
a few examples. The model provided by authors is rather involved and flexible. Organizations do many things and so it is easy to find examples that fit into those
designated categories. The main idea of the article is in fact that organizations in general perform a multitude of tasks as named. Additionally, other important facts named by the author
include the notion that sequencing or organization is important. It is rather ironic that this has to be noted because organizations are organized by definition. Still, the author elaborates and
creates a paradigm whereby further concepts are discussed such as chain thinking as introduced by Porter. Many thinkers have noticed this sequencing phenomenon. Another concept discussed are hubs. Hubs
are described as something that is central to a concept. Airlines have hubs and this is where the terminology comes from, but hospitals for example may be viewed as hubs
as well. A third concept is discussed and this is called the web. It is explained that the web differs from a hub because it has no center. One might
