interact with families in effective ways that address their needs. However, the researchers also point out that the rapid proliferation of advances in genetics has, thus far, not been matched
by research in related sociological areas that can aid healthcare providers in meeting the needs of these families. The justification for turning to grounded theory in this research is
due to the fact that grounded theory has been shown to be useful in investigations into basic social processes. It provides a means to map the logic and words of
participants in order to create an "explanatory matrix of the experience" (Hamilton, Bowers and William, 2005, p. 20). Purpose The researchers indicate that their purpose of their study
is to add to nursing knowledge concerning how to go about disclosing sensitive genetic information to family members. This takes into accord the fact that test results on the potential
