century, intelligence was interpreted as a "single, overall, general mental ability" (Just how are you intelligent, p. 101). It was believed that intelligence was one single ability that was exactly
the same for everyone, and therefore, standardized intelligence tests could measure it accurately. But Gardner began to question this assumption and developed theories of multiple intelligences. Why did researchers begin
to question the US of the "IQ-score approach? During the 1970s and 1980s, researchers began to look at the standard IQ tests and found that they were "biased in favor
of certain economic classes and ethnic groups" (Just how are you intelligent?, p. 101). Moreover, these scores (from the biased tests) were used to determine "childrens educational opportunities" (Just how
are you intelligent?, p. 101). Which one of the seven intelligences describes the student best? That will have to be determined by the student. The seven intelligences described are linguistic
intelligence (good with languages); musical intelligence; logical-mathematical intelligence; spatial intelligence (understanding objects in space and how they relate to each other); bodily kinesthetic intelligence (being aware of ones own body
and in control of its movements); interpersonal intelligence (good at understanding others); intrapersonal intelligence (good at understanding oneself) (Just how are you intelligent?, p. 106). With this list, the student
