world closer but at times that seems problematic; is there such a thing as too much information? This paper analyzes an article about the missile crisis with North Korea and
how globalization and technology can impact attempted negotiations. Discussion The article ins about Secretary of Defense Robert Gatess remarks with regard to the threat posed by North Koreas missile test
firings. Gates says that "the emerging U.S. missile-defense system is capable of repelling an attack from North Korea should the reclusive regime ever threaten American territory" (Gienger, 2009). Gates made
the remarks on a visit to Fort Greely Alaska, a missile base where 16 interceptor rockets are housed, on his way back from a security conference in Singapore coupled with
a visit to the Philippines (Gienger, 2009). Said Gates, "If there were a launch from a rogue state such as North Korea, I have good confidence that we would be
able to deal with it" (Gienger, 2009). It was thought at the time that North Korea could be preparing another test, despite the international reaction to its launch of a
ballistic missile over Japan in April, 2009 (Gienger, 2009). Gates was speaking in defense of his proposal to "limit the number of interceptors to be placed in the ground at
