For anyone who has read any of Arthur Millers work, or seen any of his plays, there can be little doubt that he was incredibly influenced by his time in
history. Arthur Miller was a man who experienced, in good and bad ways, the post war era wherein many things in society changed. He was influenced by the struggle to
succeed in the post war era, the human condition, and clearly the fight against communism that arose following WWII. The following paper examines the influence of Miller as it relates
to this time period and his work. Arthur Miller and the Post War Era "Arthur Miller was born in Harlem, New
York City...His father, Isidore Miller, was an illiterate Jewish immigrant from Poland" (Liukkonen). He had a business but it was essentially destroyed with the Depression. His mother was also Polish.
The family ruin was an event that had a very powerful impact on Miller and ultimately begins his time and place in history as many people who suffered in the
Depression were individuals who experienced WWII and the post war era. Having lived in conditions that were harsh, due to the economy, laid the foundations for society during the post
