Two practical aspects of creativity : High-stakes standardized testing, while useful in some ways, does not access the potential with students for creativity; it does not teach them creative problem-solving or encourage the use of the imagination in learning. A practical side of creativity is that it encourages learning by engaging the students on an imaginative level. Elementary teacher Laurene Ring recounts how she led a study of Andrew Wyeths painting Christinas World. As the students were encouraged to put their bodies in the same position as Christinas, as shown in the painting, they realized that something was wrong with her legs, which led to a discussion of what Wyeth was trying to convey with in the painting (Ring 36). as this demonstrates art stimulates creativity, which is integrally associated with critical thinking. Another practical aspect of encouraging creativity through art is that it provides an ideal medium for teaching diverse student populations.
