duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage. In relationship to the topics or values to be discussed, the following paper examines the values of respect, responsibility (which would
be duty), and loyalty, and discusses the importance of these values. Respect The virtue or value of respect is that which
addresses the need to treat all other people with respect. When treating a person with respect one must consider the other person and also value the other person. Respect takes
a lot of things into consideration and it essentially relies on a sense of acceptance and consideration of other people and their values, whether or not they are held by
others. "Respect begins with a fundamental understanding that all people possess worth as human beings" (Washington Army Guard, 2005). A person does
not need to believe or even fully understand the position of another person in order to respect them. The point is to accept their person and their ideals and still
being able to maintain ones own particular stance, respecting each others rights to hold to different ideals. If people in the Armed Forces did not hold respect for one another
they would cease to be a strong and cohesive unit. While the people in the Armed Forces must follow certain rules and regulations, they are not required to be of
a specific faith or belief in relationship to anything aside from their belief in the nation. As such it is important that all military personal are instructed to have respect
