and defines those values. Army Values In brief the 7 core values are Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage (7 Army Values, 2007).
These are values that actually involve a great more than their simple terms indicate and are also related to such things as respecting leaders and being punctual. In more
detailed examination, loyalty requires that a soldier or member of the Army bears "true faith and allegiance to the U.S. Constitution, the Army....unit and other Soldiers" (Living the Army Values:
It Means You Live Up to a Higher Standard, 2007). In this the individual devotes themselves to someone or something other than themselves. "A loyal Soldier is one who supports
the leadership and stands up for fellow Soldiers" (Living the Army Values: It Means You Live Up to a Higher Standard, 2007). This falls in with not disrespecting a leader
for in disrespecting a leader the soldier is clearly not showing loyalty. Duty involves fulfilling ones obligations and doing what they are told to do. This involves working as
a team and performing tasks as assigned, not trying to take shortcuts or engaging in the process on ones own with their own assumptions (Living the Army Values: It Means
You Live Up to a Higher Standard, 2007). In many ways this also relates to being punctual for if a soldier is not punctual they are not performing their duties
