In his book Blackwater, Jeremy Scahill describes in detail the rise of this terrifying and monstrous private army, which is well-funded, well-armed, and driven by a deep dedication to ultra-right
causes; its strongly imbued with fundamentalist Christian thinking as well (Scahill). If theres anything worse than a born-again Christian with a gun and a conviction hes absolutely right about everything,
its difficult to imagine what it could be-unless its a young Muslim (or Jew, or any other religion one cares to name) with the same attitude. Blackwater managed to
stay "under the radar" for quite a while, until their outrageous behavior in Iraq brought them to public notice. The bloodbaths they perpetrated in Fallujah, and which Scahill describes in
great detail, horrified the entire world and finally woke people up to the fact that something was going on that needed to be addressed. It appears that the Blackwater troops
are entirely out of control; not only that, they are convinced over their own superiority, so that they have no qualms with shooting women, children, civilians and anyone who gets
in their way (Scahill). In Fallujah, for instance, the American commander insisted that they had been fired upon, but the buildings which the Americans occupied had no bullet holes in
them (Scahill). The buildings opposite, however, were blasted with machine gun fire, quite clearly proving that only the Americans had guns, and had used them (Scahill). "People interviewed by The
