not concern itself with personal freedoms. Others might contend that personal freedom is a part of human rights. In order to address the primary questions, the concept of human rights
must be adequately defined. A look at human rights, and what they are exactly, is not easily accomplished. One has to go back through history in order to comprehend
how such rights have been embraced throughout the years. The concept of human rights actually existed under a variety of names in Europe for many centuries, since the time
of King John of England ("A short," 1997). After some violations by the King of what was thought proper, the Magna Carta emerged to oversee what has come to be
known as human rights (1997). One example is the separation of church and state, as well as the right of all free citizens to own and inherit property as
well as to be free from excessive taxation (1997). It created the right of widows who owned property to decide whether or not to remarry, and it also created principles
