open communication. In other words, communication does not flow exclusively from the top down, it flows in all directions. There are parameters, such as corporate policies that have been established
by the managing partners but it is not dictatorial. Policies include a strong ethics statement. Because the firm is always working on multiple projects, communication processes are essential. The
managing partners need to be kept apprised of the progress of each project. This is handled both through an intranet system and a large white boards. Updates on some projects
are made a number of times each day. These information sources are available to anyone in the company. They act as an information forum with constant two-way or multiple-way communication.
Although this is a relatively small firm in the architecture industry, it is one that works on massive projects. The company has gained a reputation for extremely high quality
work and service as well as a reputation for being able to complete very large projects in a shorter period of time than many firms. Another part of this companys
reputation is innovative designs. One reason for the companys speed is the effective use of technology. The managing partners are well-skilled in the use of technology for architecture and
they have trained all other personnel. Using technology effectively and efficiently allows the firm to work on a greater diversity of projects in both content and size. Without technology, this
