questions about ones personality and how one would react in a given situation - this is a form of psychological test. Whenever ones knowledge or ability in a specific topical
context is tested, such as with a math test at school - this is a form of psychological test. Likewise, a test administered by clinical psychologists to determine the extent
to which an individual may show signs of borderline personality disorder is also clearly a form of psychological test. In other words, these tests are utilized well outside of the
specific domain we usually think of as "psychology" in order to measure key facts about an individuals personality or behavior. There are many ways in which this can become profoundly
problematic. All psychological tests have a key similarity in that they all operate on the same assumptions that humans share certain traits and characteristics, that the test can measure these
traits and characteristics, and that those measurements are significant in telling us something about the test takers underlying psychology. Once these kinds of tests begin to be administered outside of
the hands of trained professionals, or even in certain professional contexts, these assumptions can quickly become misleading, resulting in inappropriate applications of these tests that can be disruptive or harmful
to the individuals involved. This paper will explore the appropriate and inappropriate usages of psychological testing. To begin with, psychological testing can surely be appropriate in certain circumstances. For instance,
if a prospective employer makes use of a mental ability test or an achievement test is used to determine if an individual has the skills required to perform a certain
